Welcome to the Wisconsin Whisker Walk - Fox Valley Humane's Virtual Cat Walk

Attention cats, friends of cats, and wielders of computer mice: Fox Valley Humane Association has a great 30-year fundraising tradition with its annual Bark in the Park dog walk event. Well, now it's time for the cats to get a turn.

But knowing how well cats go for walks, we are going to do things a little differently. We are going for a virtual pledge walk. Since we are going on our walk via the world wide web, there's no need to lace up your shoes or bribe Fluffy with a can of tuna fish. All you need to do is sign up by creating your own Whisker Walk online pledge page, email your friends and family for their support, and enjoy our 12 day walk across Wisconsin. Along the way, we'll be stopping at some curious sites (there is a saying about cats and curiosity), answering a little cat trivia, giving out prizes, and raising money for the animals in need at Fox Valley Humane . . . and Fluffy doesn't even have to leave her prized spot on the windowsill to do it.

How do I get started?
Simple! Go to www.firstgiving.com/foxvalleyhumane and click on "Get Started." Follow the directions to pay your $10 registration fee and to create your own personalized fundraising web page. Then email your web page to your friends, family and co-workers to ask for their support as you take part in our fundraising "walk." Creating a web page is super easy and takes about five minutes. You can personalize your page with your own pet pictures and reasons for supporting the shelter animals.

Then what?
You will receive a daily email from July 20 to 31 telling you where our Whisker Walk participants are stopping today. We will be covering a lot of miles over the 12 day walk and seeing a lot of sights not in your everyday tourist guides to Wisconsin. We'll throw in some cat tips, trivia, and stories about our shelter alumni for good measure.

A fundraising walk wouldn't be complete without prizes! Our fabulous kitty competitors (and human counterparts) will be eligible to win the following:

• Trivia winners - Answer a trivia question and you will be eligible to win a $5 gift card to Tom's Drive In. Winners will be randomly selected from all correct answers.
• Raise $100 - Win a $10 gift certificate to Pet Supplies Plus.
• Raise $250 - Win $20 in gift cards to Tom's Drive In
• Top fundraiser - Be our top Whisker Walk fundraiser and win an adorable, colorful cat quilt!
