Have you found a pet?

If you find a lost pet:

1. Talk to people in the area to see if someone recognizes the pet.
2. Contact your local law enforcement agency or animal control contact to see if anyone has reported a pet missing that matches the pet you founds description.
3. Call FVHA at 920-733-1717 to file a Found Pet Report and to find out more information about the next steps if the owner of the pet cannot be located.
4. Post the found pet online on Lost Dogs of Wisconsin or Lost Cats of Wisconsin and Nextdoor.

5. Create posters and hang them where you found the pet.

Stray pets are held at FVHA for the state-mandated four day stray hold. If no owner comes forward during that time, the pet is evaluated for health and behavior before it is placed up for adoption.

If you lost your pet:

1. Talk to people in the area to see if someone has seen your pet.
2. Contact your local law enforcement agency or animal control contact to see if anyone has reported finding a pet that matches your pet’s description.
3. Call FVHA at 920-733-1717 to file a Lost Pet Report or fill out a lost cat or lost dog form below. You may also want to contact surrounding animal shelters, as pets may travel out of the area.
4. Post your missing pet online on Lost Dogs of Wisconsin or Lost Cats of Wisconsin and Nextdoor.
5. Create posters and hang them where your pet was lost.

Please complete the appropriate form below if you would like FVHA to help you find your lost pet– remember, it’s important to provide as many accurate details as possible. With any luck, you and your pet will be reunited soon.

In order for you to reclaim your pet, you will be required to comply with Wisconsin State Statute #173.23. The following is a list of what is required to reclaim a dog or cat:

Reclaim Information:

  • Bring proof of ownership such as but not limited to: vet records, adoption papers, photos of your pet.
  • Your pet must have a current rabies vaccination certificate. If your pet is not current on rabies, FVHA can provide this vaccination for a $20 charge.
  • Accepted methods of payment are Credit, Debit and Cash
  • A current dog license in the municipality that you reside in, if you are reclaiming a cat please check to see if your municipality requires a cat license.
  • A driver’s license or accepted form of identification.
  • When your animal arrives at FVHA, you can rest assured that he or she has received the necessary care and attention. These procedures have been set in place for the safety, health and well-being of the lost animal and all other animals at the shelter.
